January Uprising
January Uprising is a catalog of documents of everyday social life from the period of the Polish national uprising against the Russian Empire, which began in January 1863 and ended in the autumn of 1864. The catalog was issued to mark the 160th anniversary of the outbreak of the uprising. The ceremonial character of the book is expressed through the gold color, recalling shimmering January snow, a hardcover embossed with gold foil, and golden panels that frame the illustrations like paintings. Modest secret prints are thus presented as works of art.
January Uprising Catalog of Documents by Izabela Jurczyk has been selected as an outstanding example of communication design by the A' Design Award. January Uprising Catalog of Documents received the Iron A' Design Award in Print and Published Media Design in 2024. The A' Print and Published Media Design Award is a highly prestigious international design prize that celebrates excellent design of brochures, posters, magazines, catalogs, flyers, business cards, billboards, books and more.
