The Study of Emotion
Clatoz is a series of illustrations that express the emotions of many different people through patterns and color. The works are made with mixed media in two sizes, 24 by 17 centimeters and 29.7 by 21 centimeters. Color carries emotional meaning, such as passion in red and calm in blue. Dark shades suggest the hidden inner world of a person who does not speak. Layered patterns show how emotions become more complex. The illustrations are shown in galleries, where each drawing can become a tool for conversation.
The Study of Emotion Illustration by YoonJe Yang was featured as an innovative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. The Study of Emotion Illustration received the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2021. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition that celebrates exceptional design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
