Irrational Slice
Irrational Slice is an information visualization project that presents research data in three-dimensional space. The data comes from a cognitive experiment comparing human and machine judgment. The three-dimensional model is built with reference to the structure of brain neurons. Augmented reality software makes the model appear when a printed poster is scanned. Viewers can rotate the model and zoom in or out by finger to read the information from many angles. The aim is to explore new ways of observing and transmitting information.
Irrational Slice Information Visualization by Lu Zhao has been recognized as a grand example of communication design by the A' Design Award. Irrational Slice Information Visualization received the Bronze A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2021. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is a highly prestigious international design prize that recognizes exceptional design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
