Interview with Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : Simplicity with a sense of elegance. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : I have intend to manufacture it worldwide and hope to share the product with every cyclist. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : About a year .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : I was cycling along this particular street where there is alot of cars. Finding it hard to signal and filter out to the right lane so that i could make a right turn at the junction. I decide to come out with this design.
.Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : I have intent to produce my work myself. .Frank Scott: Who is the target customer for his design?. Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : Currently this version is for mountain bikes. .Frank Scott: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?. Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : Integrated Signalling System .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : Most bike brands are rather rough feel so i decided that this design should sound rough and durable too. I went to the urban dictionary and stumble upon the word reggal. It has the meaning "the opposite of a lagger" which also fulfilled my thought of making this product a fast reaction product that could save someone's life. .Frank Scott: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?. Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : Its more of a down-to-earth experience i would say. You really have to be a cyclist to know what you need when you are on the road. .Frank Scott: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?. Nicholas Tay Meng Kiat : I believe sharing the ideas is extremely valuable to others who want to find inspiration. This competition also add on to my future portfolio. .
